"IN THE REALM OF DREAMS AND FEARS" UPCOMING HORROR AND FANTASY SHOW

I have been out of the EYEPUS blog loop for quite sometime due to an upcoming Horror and fantasy show I'm curating here in my borough. Not only I'm curating my first show, but also I will be having my first solo show exhibition of all my film and photo works.

IN THE REALM OF DREAMS AND FEARS is the name of the show and below is all the press release and invite. It will be the first Horror and Fantasy show in the Bronx. I gather the best artists that I fell in love with their works for the past few years.  Some of the artists were part of this blog through past interviews here at EYEPUS.  Their works will be on view from Wednesday, February 6, 2013 - 5pm - 9pm (OPEN RECEPTION) till MAY 1, 2013 - So anyone who will be in NYC come out and support the show. PROJECT ROOM: ANTONIO VICENTY

Curated by Longwood Arts Project, this exhibition is Vicenty’s first solo exhibition of his recent experimental film and photography. Inspired by his early childhood in Puerto Rico where he visited funeral homes and walked cemeteries with his family to bury their loved ones, he uses the props, images, visual effects and photography from his infatuation with horror films resulting in experimental photography and films that are eerie, mysterious and scary, with elements of horror, fantasy, everyday fears and the inevitable fact of death through artificial, surreal and dreamlike means.

About the Curator

Antonio Vicenty is a Bronx filmmaker and photographer whose major influences were Italian and US horror films from the 1970s and 1980s. Films by such genre notables as Dario Argento, Mario Bava, Wes Craven, David Cronenberg, Lucio Fulci, David Lynch, and George A. Romero inspired Vicenty’s work that use images of graveyards, children in Halloween masks, and old dolls to explore personal narratives, sexuality, and gender identity. He was the recipient of BCA’s prestigious BRIO award in 2006. His documentary and narrative films have been included in festivals and exhibitions throughout the United States and London. Vicenty currently lives and works in the Bronx.
